A family wanted to create their home barrier free to age in place. My coworker and I interviewed the clients to understand to what extent they wanted to create an ADA compliant home. Two bedrooms in the back of the house are to be converted into the master bedroom and bathroom, renovate the main bathroom and kitchen to be compliant, and add a lift from the main floor to the basement. Multiple layouts were designed to evaluate the best use of the space and show the client what did not work and explain why. A ramp will be added to the front porch and the lift will be an addition out the back of their house.
